Vosgrone is one of the most talked-about prospects out of Europe, thanks to his intimidating look and unorthodox fight style. Coming from a grappling background, the BJJ black belt has amassed 30 medals, including 16 golds. While he has multiple European and international open titles, his bronze at the 2019 IBJJF World No-Gi Championships stands out as his biggest accomplishment.
His fighting style is nothing short of unique—imagine a polar bear actively hunting humans as prey. Much of what he does goes against conventional wisdom, yet it works, especially in heavyweight MMA, where raw power can be just as effective as technique. Vosgrone fights with relentless forward pressure, often sprinting straight into the pocket and absorbing punches along the way. He will use any means necessary to get the fight to the ground, relying on sheer force rather than finesse.
On the mat, Vosgrone is a nightmare. He drives into his opponent’s hips, lunges onto limbs, pulls guard, and inches his way into dominant positions. Once he secures control, he’s as strong and sticky as duct tape, incredibly hard to shake off, and immediately moves onto the next limb. He’s particularly dangerous with heel hooks—a technique often considered ineffective in MMA—but Vosgrone has largely mastered it for the division. He’s not just a leg lock specialist; he attacks anything within reach, whether it’s a limb or a choke, relentlessly breaking opponents down.
That said, the clock is ticking. Many pure jiu-jitsu fighters without strong wrestling or striking foundations eventually hit a wall. Vosgrone’s promotion, Oktagon, recently signed Martin Buday, who beat Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida by neutralizing sloppy takedowns and exploiting striking deficiencies—exactly the vulnerabilities Vosgrone hasn’t yet addressed.
Still, the Vosgrone experience is compelling. His style is thrilling and effective enough to beat many in a weak division. While he may not be a technically complete prospect, he is unquestionably a feared one.
