At only 19 years old, Scotland’s Stephen Clancy is racking up experience and taking out opponents on an impressive, undefeated run. Training at Higher Level Martial Arts, Stephen is following in the footsteps of his brother, Sean Jr., the current interim welterweight champion at Cage Warriors.
Even after a recent move to Bantamweight, Stephen Clancy is still a rare breed at Featherweight, measuring 6’0” with long arms, a unique stature to come by. Clancy uses his length and distance control to his advantage, racking up three wins in 2025. This includes two title victories at two weight classes under English promotions, BADMOFO MMA and Full Contact Contender.
The 9-0-0 Scottish amateur is a gifted striker on the feet, fighting behind an effective jab, outside leg kicks, and teep kicks up the middle from range. He’s finished two fights by strikes throughout his career, as well as mixing in takedown shots and trips, rounding out a balanced offensive attack; but what’s most impressive about Stephen Clancy’s game is his jiu-jitsu off his back.
In the 6th fight of his MMA career against Garon Shemar, Clancy was taken down early in the fight after throwing a whirlwind of offense in the first minutes. What initially appeared to be a disadvantage in poor takedown defense was quickly proven to be an overwhelming advantage for Clancy, eventually pushing off the opposition in Shemar and forcing him to dive in for ground and pound. From there, Stephen Clancy caught the neck of Garon Shemar from his back, sinking in a triangle choke with his legs for the finish.
Most recently, on November 29th, 2025, Stephen Clancy scored a five-round unanimous decision victory over Mickey “The Indian Chuck Norris” Leithner, earning him the Full Contact Contender featherweight belt. With swagger and an unforgettable flowing mullet, Clancy is a star in the making on the amateur scene.
I thoroughly enjoyed and gained important knowledge about 19 year old future MMA star, Stephen Clancy. The excellently written article by Nicholas Holt about Stephen’s fights, especially his sixth, captivated me.
I smiled at the end when I read Clancy’s unforgettable flowing mullet. Holt communicated; business, short hair in front; party long hair in back.
