At 205 pounds, there’s a wide discrepancy in talent. There simply aren’t enough high-level athletes competing in the heavier weight classes, but for Emilio Quissua, a star could be born at Oktagon 83.

The 28-year-old light heavyweight Emilio “Rixa” Quissua returns for his second appearance in Oktagon this Saturday. Fighting out of Balingen, Germany, Quissua has quietly built an impressive résumé over the past few years and now takes on 7-3-0 Frenchman Jorick Montagnac.

In his Oktagon debut, Quissua made quick work of Mateusz Strzelczyk (now 16-15-1). After securing a dominant position on the ground, Rixa’s relentless top pressure forced Strzelczyk to give up his back, allowing Quissua to unleash a violent ground-and-pound finish in the opening round, immediately establishing him as a physical presence at 205 pounds in Oktagon.

Perhaps Quissua’s most impressive performance came in September 2022 under the UAE Warriors banner, competing for the light heavyweight championship against Kevin Oumar. Oumar entered the bout riding a four-fight win streak with an 8-3 record, but Rixa put his striking on full display – working the clinch, landing a barrage of knees and elbows, and eventually dropping Oumar before finishing him with a first-round knockout from full mount.

With each fight, Quissua appears to be growing stronger as he continues to fill out his lengthy frame at 205 pounds. His imposing style and aggressive finishing ability on the mat have become defining traits; ones that could spell trouble once again for Montagnac. The Frenchman earned a bounce-back victory in October after suffering a second-round loss to the widely-known Fredric Vosgröne, but Quissua will be hunting a similar outcome come Saturday.

Keep an eye on Emilio Quissua as he looks to extend his undefeated record and strengthen his case for an Oktagon title shot against double champion Will Fleury; a fight that could potentially propel him toward true international stardom. Saturday’s result may determine how quickly that conversation becomes reality.

  1. I like Nicholas Holt’s writing style. His words, describing Rixa Quissa’s fighting skills and determination in the Oktagon, captured my full attention. Holt’s stating of Rixa’s potential has motivated me to follow Rixa’s progress as a light heavyweight.
