Miha Frlic

Fighter In-Depth: Miha Frlic

A heavyweight with incredible finishing ability and heavy hands seems rarer than hoped for nowadays. With the current state of the UFC HW division nearing disarray, there are still UFC hopefuls who could change the future outlook. One of the most prominent that comes to mind is Brave CF heavyweight Miha Frlic, who has been a wrecking ball with 6 straight KO wins. He was also featured on our “Top 10 HWs the UFC should sign in 2026” article.

Frlic had middling success as an amateur, with just a 4-3 record while competing with IMMAF. His losses came against Cage Warriors’ Nell Ariano (5-0) and PFL’s Rasul Magomedov (8-0). Despite his lack of amateur success, the strong competition he faced only helped develop his game. That level of competition led to Frlic gaining invaluable experience, allowing him to achieve massive success as a pro. A draw in his pro debut was a less-than-ideal start to Frlic’s pro career, but it didn’t take long for things to change. Frlic’s four-fight knockout streak across three different promotions opened up the door for a fight against Shah Kamali, who was rumored to be on DWCS later in the year. Frlic took full advantage of the opportunity, finishing Kamali in Round 3 in a Fight of the Year candidate and stunting any DWCS hopes.

His punching power, chin, and willingness to exchange were on full display for the entire fight. Although he ate some big punches, Frlic was right there in the pocket, ready to counter. He dropped Kamali twice in the first round and then again to start Round 2, keeping up an insane pace of boxing and wrestling until his early Round 3 finish. Frlic has dropped every one of his opponents in Round 1 across his win streak.

With Frlic being such a dangerous striker, his wrestling can be overlooked at times. His single and double-leg takedowns carry a lot of strength, with his chain-wrestling being a great asset as well. Once on top, he transitions to dominant positions and poses a big threat with heavy ground-and-pound and submissions. His takedown defense is also sharp, shutting down takedowns while punishing bad attempts. He considers his win over Kamil Gawryjolek his best performance, where his takedown defense and subsequent boxing combos led to a quick, impressive KO.

Training at Klub Chiko, a small gym in Slovenia, Frlic is looking to broaden the reach of Slovenian MMA. There are no fighters from the country in the UFC, but Frlic would be a heavy favorite to be next. Despite this, Frlic feels that he still has room to grow and wants to do so on the regional scene. If he continues to develop his skills, he will be a dangerous threat to many UFC Heavyweights. In a barren division, Frlic is a beam of hope that hopefully finds his way into the promotion when ready.

Frlic takes on Samuele Di Guardo in a surprising rematch at Brave CF 104. Since their first fight, Frlic is 3-0 while Di Guardo is just 1-1. After Frlic’s 37-second KO in the first fight, this looks primed for another quick finish. Their first fight saw Frlic rush in with combinations and quickly overwhelm Di Guardo. It’ll be interesting to see if he comes out more passive or continues with an aggressive approach in the rematch. A win would likely guarantee a title shot, if that’s the direction the promotion wants to go with Miha Frlic.
