Tyshawn Williams (8-0) vs Antonio Monteiro (18-5-1)
Williams is a talented, athletic wrestler with real power in his hands, training out of the hard-nosed Xtreme Couture gym, and it shows. His one flaw is dropping his hands when he’s taking fire, which could be an issue here. Monteiro returns after a decision loss to a Cuban journeyman on Contender Series Season 8. He’s a Muay Thai fighter who isn’t dangerous unless he’s facing overmatched competition.
Luis Hernandez (7-0) vs Hugo Guillon (7-1)
Hernandez is a sloppy southpaw who bombs lead lefts, mixing in a telegraphed high kick, spamming looping lefts and the odd right to back opponents to the cage before looking for the takedown. His top control is nothing impressive. Guillon is tall but doesn’t fight to his length, with striking that’s a step above Hernandez’s but still short of UFC caliber. His takedowns and control are the better of the two. Guillon is likely the more well-rounded fighter, but Hernandez’s sloppiness makes for a more exciting watch.
Akbar Abdullaev (13-0) vs Ednilson Barros Santos (14-7-1)
No breakdown, this is Akbar’s showcase, we are all about to witness greatness at its highest level.
Oscar Ravello (13-3-1) vs Igor Cavalcanti (13-2)
Ravello doesn’t have a clear path to winning this fight. His knockouts come from wild exchanges against overmatched competition, and his ground game is predictable enough that Cavalcanti should be able to defend it if it gets there. Cavalcanti at least brings excitement, mixing technical and brawler style striking, and is comfortable working against the cage and in the clinch. On his second shot at Contender Series, he needs to stay disciplined and pick his shots.
Mayton Perea (8-3) vs Zevan Hunt (7-0)
Perea has essentially no ground game, but his standup is genuinely exciting, fast-paced and high volume, mixing kicks, punches, and elbows from every angle. Hunt is a BJJ black belt with fundamentally sound but low volume striking, serviceable in a brawl, with plain takedown entries. He’s dangerous using submission threats as counters and sweeps, though that shouldn’t come into play here. Both fighters have cardio concerns, but Hunt likely won’t get enough time to drag this to the mat before it’s decided standing.
