After kicking off the year with a first-round finish of his most experienced opponent to date, undefeated flyweight Maximus Kashket returns this Saturday at FightStar Championship 38.

Still just 22 years old, Kashket went 2-0 as an amateur fighter in 2022 before he turned pro in 2024. That year saw “The Gladiator” go 4-0 with a pair of knockouts, and last year he secured his first submission victory before he also stopped Iago Silva in just under four minutes in his most recent outing in August.

A southpaw, the London Shootfighters product is very fast and mobile, relying heavily on lateral movement to avoid danger and keep his opponents from backing him up to the fence. When he isn’t attacking the inside and outside of his opponent’s lead leg, Kashket will distract them by pumping out his lead hand and landing occasional jabs before committing to left straights to both the head and body.

Once he has a feel for his opponent and has established his range, Kashket likes to burst forward with combinations of punches that typically start and end with his left hand. He’ll also start to occasionally throw his left as more of a thudding overhand as a fight goes on, and the 22-year-old will utilize his right hand in a similar manner when he chooses to work out of an orthodox stance.

Kashket is usually good about darting in and out from exchanges, but he does occasionally spend a little bit too much time in the pocket when throwing extended combinations and can leave himself open to counter shots in these moments. His striking style also works best when he’s able to keep an opponent on the back foot, as this allows him to also mix in kicks and waste less energy trying to circle away from his opposition.

“The Gladiator” does excel at clinching up with opponents when they start building some momentum on the feet and uses good trips to bring things to the ground from this position. He also does an excellent job of mixing in his takedown attempts from open space and will look to land heavy ground and pound as soon as he has an opponent on their back, although he tends to prioritize damage over position and is happy to let them back up to their feet after he’s postured up and landed some good shots.

Although he obviously hasn’t faced anyone notable yet, Kashket does have another experienced fighter in front of him this weekend in José Vagno Soares. Boasting a fairly unique and well-rounded skillset, he’s certainly an interesting flyweight prospect to keep an eye on.
