Following a 21-second knockout that brought his professional record to 4-0, heavyweight Terrance Chatman gets his first headlining opportunity opposite Myron Dennis at Fury FC 118 this Sunday.
All but one of Chatman’s amateur or professional MMA bouts have come under the Fury FC banner. The Texas-native began his brief amateur career in 2023 and won all four of those bouts via first-round knockout, claiming the Fury FC amateur heavyweight title with a 41-second finish in his last fight before turning pro.
After finishing Erick Prieto in his pro debut in early 2025, Chatman also knocked out Steve Gurrola in the second round and proved he could also go the three-round distance when he took a unanimous decision over Dwight Maters at Fury FC 109. Returning to action last January, “The Answer” established himself as a heavyweight prospect worth keeping an eye on with a 21-second knockout of Omar El-Sahlah.
Chatman shows off a surprising amount of composure and patience for a fighter that’s only four bouts into his pro career. This does sometimes result in long periods of relative inactivity for him, as he largely prefers to wait and land big counter shots when his opponents come forward and try to mount their own offense.
The 28-year-old does a good job of constantly circling back towards the middle when pressured. If he plants his feet to counter, he prefers to throw a heavy overhand right or left hook, sometimes following the former strike with the latter. He’ll also chip away at his opponent’s lead leg with kicks and stomps to the knee and will land jabs to both the head and body in between frequent feints with his lead hand.
“The Answer” packs a considerable amount of power and is quick to dive on an opponent with heavy ground and pound when they do hit the canvas, and he also tends to increase his output on the feet a bit more if he clips someone with a big shot and senses that they might be hurt.
The heavyweight division is always in need of new talent, and this feels like a real “prove it” fight for Chatman given that it’s a headlining spot against a fighter with significantly more professional fights to his name. Another win here, particularly if it’s another big knockout, would make the 28-year-old a strong candidate to appear on Dana White’s Contender Series later this year.
