Mayocchi is an active, assertive grappler with a dangerous submission game and an increasingly sharp stand-up attack. He has built his reputation against consistently strong regional opposition and is one of Australia and New Zealand’s brightest young talents.

Mayocchi’s game starts with grappling. He initiates clinches, chains takedown attempts, and uses body locks, trips, and off-balancing to put opponents on the mat. Once there, he is patient and methodical, advancing position while keeping the submission threat constant. His amateur record reflects it, with four submissions in five wins and two titles.

His striking has come a long way at City Kickboxing, supported by amateur kickboxing and Muay Thai wins. He uses it to close distance and force reactions, and his body work makes opponents clinch up, which is exactly where he wants the fight. He will take a shot to get inside, and so far his durability has made that work. Against heavier hitters, it carries more risk.

He has already tested himself. He beat the unbeaten Artemios Trepca by decision, then traveled to China for his first fight outside home territory, ground down his opponent, and finished in the third round after taking the back. Training daily alongside his twin brother Kyle, and his win on City Kickboxing’s reality show Relentless, point to a fighter who handles pressure well.

Against Jin Tae Ho, the question is whether Mayocchi can dictate where the fight takes place. If he can, his grappling and pace should take over. A strong performance would set him up for a meaningful step up in competition, whether at the regional title level or beyond.
