Know Your Fighter: Joseph Larcinese | Eternal MMA

#8 Joseph Larcinese (4-0)

Flyweight

27 Years Old – Igor MMA

Joseph Larcinese is a highly refined grappler whose game is built around strong positional awareness, composure, and an ability to flow naturally through scrambles. On the ground, he is proactive and dangerous, showing sharp instincts for submissions and a willingness to capitalize when opponents expose their necks or leave transitional gaps. He moves efficiently through positions, maintaining pressure while remaining balanced, which makes him difficult to dislodge once he establishes control.

While grappling is clearly his primary strength, Larcinese is far from one-dimensional. On the feet, he displays sensible fundamentals working behind a disciplined jab and maintaining a high defensive guard that allows him to minimise damage while reading openings. He is comfortable enough striking to avoid forcing grappling exchanges, trusting his stand-up where necessary and showing that he can hold his own in that phase even as it continues to develop. When he does choose to bring the fight to the mat, it’s typically through measured pressure, closing distance into the clinch where he can work methodically for double or single leg takedowns, or create off-balances and sweeps to initiate scrambles on his terms.

Larcinese’s resume reinforces the effectiveness of his approach. He remains undefeated across both his professional and amateur career, with all four of his professional victories coming by way of submission against strong opposition. Those wins include finishes over former Eternal and Diamondback Flyweight Champion Frank Jankowski, respected power striker Oden Muscat, former Diamondback Amateur Flyweight Champion Zac Gregson, and IMMAF Oceania Gold Medallist Troy Fumo. He closed out his amateur career in similarly emphatic fashion, submitting the highly regarded Liam Forrest to claim the Showdown Amateur Flyweight Championship.

Taken together, these results highlight not only the level of competition Larcinese has faced but also his consistency in passing each test decisively. As he continues to develop his overall game and gain experience, Larcinese shapes as an interesting prospect at flyweight who, if he continues on his current trajectory, could find himself with a Road to UFC tournament berth or Dana White’s Contenders Series opportunity fairly soon.
