Best Prospects From Argintina

Featherweight, Albano Sanchez (7-0)

Sanchez was forced to deal with real adversity in his last outing against a lesser opponent, but the positive takeaway is that he showed the ability to fight through tough moments without falling apart. He’s been extremely active throughout his career—fighting five times last year alone—and is already scheduled for his second bout of this year in April.

At just 21 years old, that activity level is a major plus. While much of his competition has been on the lower end, he’s handled it the way you’d expect. Standing at 5’10” for featherweight, he makes good use of his size and length.

His striking still needs refinement, though he throws with volume and isn’t afraid to mix in flashy, explosive techniques. The wrestling will also need to improve as he moves up in competition. Where he stands out most is in the grappling—he’s dangerous in scrambles and willing to attack submissions from any position.

If he were older, there’d be less reason to invest in the upside, but at his age, he’s absolutely someone to keep an eye on moving forward.

Featherweight, Ivan Visotzky (1-0)

Visotzky is someone to be genuinely excited about. He’s undefeated at 5–0 across his amateur and professional career, and while his ground game is still a bit of an unknown, there are flashes of wrestling upside.

Where he really stands out is on the feet. His striking is dangerous, with sharp body-to-head combinations, excellent timing, and precise shot placement.

It’s still early to label him a top prospect, but the initial tape points to a fighter with a very bright future.

Flyweight, Mauro Gómez (7-1)

The most underrated prospect from Argentina has to be “Baby Shark.” After a loss early in his pro career, he took a two-year hiatus before returning last year and rattling off four straight wins. As an amateur, he went 4–1 and claimed the GAMMA Pan American Championship.

Gomez possesses a well-rounded skill set, though cardio can be a concern. Even so, he’s been able to rely on his abilities to win both moments and rounds. While he’s dangerous on the feet—with sharp leg kicks and hidden power—his ground game is his standout weapon. His wrestling is solid, and once on top, he’s a legitimate submission threat while also delivering heavy ground-and-pound.
