Best Knockout:Â Kaik Brito
I went back and forth between Kaik Brito and Akbar Abdullaev, but ultimately, Brito’s finish was just too memorable to pass up for this award. The build-up and atmosphere surrounding this matchup felt bigger than your average Apex event. Once the cage door closed, it delivered on every level.
With Fazil up 2-0 on two of the three judges’ scorecards, Kaik Brito’s right hand took his chances of earning a UFC contract from zero to 100 in an instant. The punch that put Fazil away was one of the hardest swings in Contender Series history – it’ll be a long time before we see that kind of explosion on a Tuesday again.
