Fury FC 112 Preview

Lightweight Championship: Hector Saenz (10-2) vs Jonathan Martin (8-2)

The lightweight division has opened up due to Khera moving up to welterweight to chase that title. That leaves interim champion Hector Saenz and challenger Jonathan Martin right in line for undisputed gold. While Saenz has been a part of Fury Fighting Championship for his entire MMA career, Martin enters only his third fight in the promotion. After his loss to Khera nearly two years ago, Martin claimed and defended the Fight For It championship. He then returned to Fury FC in August 2025, where he finished two-time DWCS fighter Malik Lewis. He did so in impressive fashion with a neck crank sub in the third round.

In this fight, Martin will hold a major height advantage against Saenz, standing a rare 6’0” at lightweight. That being significant, with Saenz’s only being 5’8”, though I’d be surprised to see Saenz discouraged. “El Gato Borracho” comes into this fight as the incumbent interim champion after his second-round knockout over Iler Bakhtiyar at Fury Challenger Series 14. Often keeping opponents on the back foot with forward pressure and combinations, Saenz often drives the pace, looking for a finish. Saenz can scramble and wrestle offensively, with strong double-leg takedowns. Though his most dangerous moments come when he’s walking guys down and lands strikes in tight. He’ll be looking to become the second undisputed champion of the month out of 4oz. Fight Club since Joshua Van captured the Flyweight at UFC 323.

This is a tough fight to pick purely off the stature of Martin, but I’m leaning toward Saenz. I’m backing Saena to be the more well-rounded fighter, outlasting Martin to a grimy decision victory.
