#9 Kage Fisher (6-1)
Lightweight
20 Years Old – Primal MMA/Invictus MMA
Kage Fisher is a well-rounded fighter with nasty combination striking and heavy hands. He has strong grappling fundamentals that can help him dictate where the fight takes place.
On the feet, Fisher is an energizer bunny. He constantly throws long strings of punches, mixing in vicious body shots and diversifying his targeting. While Fisher has been primarily winningby decision, simply scraping his record for results doesn’t tell you the full story. That being Fisher possesses power and can inflict serious damage to his opponents. This lack of finishes across his career could also perhaps be attributed to his level of competition at such a young age, securing notable victories over Flynn O’Keeffe, Tyrone Arvan, and Max Davidson within his first five fights. Only losing to Brad Fulmer, who will appear later in this list, and there’s no shame in losing to.
Fisher has shown an ability to wrestle against the cage. Although admittedly often struggles to secure the takedown and rather uses this time to wear on his opponent, land frustrating strikes, and recover before separating and going back to work on the feet. This also translates to his takedown defense, which has, for the most part, either held up on first-level takedown defense or been able to scramble and secure top position or find his way back to the feet. With his brother Jett Fisher being a very good grappler, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Kage continued to show improvements in this area, fight-to-fight, as evidenced by his recent submission win over Robert Keeney.
Overall, I’m fairly impressed with what I’ve seen out of Fisher at such a young age. It’s clear to see how he could potentially have success as he continues to climb through the amateur and eventually professional rankings. He’s frankly stiff to be as low as #9 and arguably deserves a higher spot. There’s a lot to like about Fisher, and I’m excited to see how he progresses as a fighter and physically matures.
