#5 Rowan Breedt (6-0)
Welterweight
23 Years Old – Luistro Combat Academy
Breedt is a former state horse riding champion and also happens to be a really slick boxer with constantly improving grappling. Finishing all but one of his six amateur wins, Breedt has showcased his heavy hands and even managed to get a submission over Kaleb Steinnokel.
Record scraping would make you believe that Breedt hasn’t really beaten anybody of note, given that only two of his wins come against fighters with winning records. Fghters like Kye Bicknell and Kaleb Steinnokel are both quality wins against seasoned opposition who are better than their records suggest. That’s all to say, Breedt has fought a good level of competition, yet has still made his fights look relatively easy for the most part, which is highly impressive.
As Breedt continues to rise through the rankings and fights increasingly stiffer competition, it will be interesting to see if he can continue to finish opponents in the manner he has been. From what I’ve seen, I’d bet he can, or at the very least, be highly problematic to deal with as he continues to exponentially improve.
Only three years into his MMA career, Breedt looks like a fighter with a bright future in the sport who has grown leaps and bounds in a very short-time. There are still some questions to be answered about Breedt, but he has passed every test so far with flying colors and thoroughly deserves his #5 ranking.
