David Mgoyan
21 years old – Russia – Tuff-n-Uff – 7-1
I’m assuming the viewers on our website are Contender Series aficionados. If so, you likely already know about David Mgoyan from his war with Tommy McMillen last season. What you might not know is that Mgoyan took that fight on very short notice. Given that he came very close to beating McMillen at points of the fight, that should tell you something about his potential.
Mgoyan is still only 21 since deciding to throw everything into the MMA game and move to the US in 2024. He’s been rapidly improving from fight to fight. He’s been evolving from being much more of a grappler into a fighter with a dangerous striking game to go with it.
In 2026, I’m expecting Mgoyan to get himself a win or two on the regionals before getting another CS opportunity. With more time to improve and prepare, I believe he’ll be ready this time around.
