Before we begin, a few guidelines are worth noting. Not every country will be represented. MMA is still a developing sport in many regions, and limited infrastructure and opportunities mean some nations simply don’t have a deep prospect pool yet. As a result, several countries are intentionally left out.
This list is focused on true prospects, not just fighters with good records. If I don’t believe a fighter has legitimate upside or a realistic path forward, they won’t be included. To keep the list firmly prospect-driven, age was also a factor, with fighters under 30 being the baseline.
One challenge came with nationality and representation. Many fighters compete under flags different from their country of birth. Whenever possible, I stuck to fighters born in the country being discussed. In cases where no clear option existed, I selected a fighter who actively represents that nation, ensuring more regions still received recognition.
Afghanistan
Right now, we only have the Basharat brothers representing Afghanistan in the UFC. I’d say Milad Ahady (8-1) isn’t far away from a UFC call-up. Even though Ahady is 5-0 in Cage Warriors, he’s still very under the radar. Maybe it’s because of his lack of finishes, but wins matter. In fact, other than the time he lost in round one, Ahady has never lost a round in his pro career. His style is a mix of all martial arts. He can box, kickbox, wrestle, and grapple with a strong gas tank. Ahady should have a big 2026 and maybe that starts with a Cage Warriors title shot soon.
Albania
Despite several UFC fighters having Albanian heritage, only one was actually born in Albania: Bernardo Sopaj. Sopaj shows considerable upside, and he isn’t the only Albanian talent to watch. Light-heavyweight Arlind Berisha (4-0) is another standout prospect. While Berisha was born in Norway, his family is Albanian, and he has represented Albania throughout his entire career.
Berisha has built an impressive résumé, highlighted by a gold medal at the 2021 U23 World Cup. His lone professional loss came against the highly regarded Rasul Magomedov. He has also captured multiple titles, including the Cage Warriors Academy light heavyweight and heavyweight championships. The Norwegian-Albanian prospect has a very bright future ahead.
Angola
Angola has Manel Kape right now in the UFC, but another one who could join him is Antero dos Santos (6-0). Santos ended his amateur career with a loss but has gone undefeated as a pro. He’s not the most technical fighter you’ll see, but is a gifted athlete. Not many guys you’ll find with the explosiveness and athleticism like Santos. His power on the feet and his explosive takedowns with some surprising good cardio make him a very interesting prospect.
Argentina
Argentina has had a number of fighters in the UFC, and more recently has been trying to add more talent. Julieta Martinez (9-0) should be next, and I’m surprised she isn’t there already. In 2024, she fought and won on the Contender Series but wasn’t signed. Still, Dana held her in high regard and an opportunity didn’t seem far off. Martinez is a DWCS alum, a Samurai Fight House strawweight champ, and a former atomweight champ. She is still green, which is why Dana didn’t sign her as a fair assessment. Martinez is super skilled, but no need to rush, considering she’s just 21-years-old.
